Survivor perspectives on institutional use of Child Sexual Abuse Material

This website contains information for victims and survivors of child sexual abuse and exploitation, about the Survivor Perspectives on Institutional use of Child Sexual Abuse Material research project conducted by the AiLECS lab at Monash University, and Bravehearts Foundation.

Information on this website is intended for those interested in our research and is not intended as a resource for victims and survivors generally. If you are seeking general information on child sexual abuse and exploitation, please visit the Bravehearts Foundation.

This research project involved hearing from victims and survivors of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) via an anonymous survey and/or a personal interview. We asked for views about how CSAM is (re)used by organisations such as police agencies, courts, and research institutions for the purpose of countering crimes against children. If you have any questions about the project, please contact the research team.

Child sexual abuse is a challenging issue. We recognise that some of the information on this website might be triggering and bring up strong feelings and thoughts for you. Please take care of yourself and ask for help if you need it. You can visit our Support Services page if you would like to speak to someone for support.

The anonymous survey for victims and survivors of child sexual abuse is now closed. We have also completed our one-on-one interviews with victims and survivors of child sexual abuse with CSAM experience and are currently confirming our findings and recommendations for policy and practice with the interview participants.

We sincerely thank all of those who participated for their courage, generosity of time, willingness to share their perspectives, and desire to effect change together.

Please see the project activities and outcomes page for more information.
